The beautiful and classy Andrew and Rachel of West Village were a sight to be had this fall! Capturing their love through autumn engagement photos taken at Central Park and West Village, set against the autumn colors of New York, was breathtaking.
The couple wanted to dress formally to complement Central Park’s seasonal beauty. Furthermore, they wanted to obtain the quintessential New York golden autumn look. We chose the Bethesda Fountain, the Bow Bridge, and the Bethesda Terrace to capture the couple’s love.
Evidently, Central Park is the most visited park in the U.S. with more than 42 million visitors annually. Its ecosystem is home to hundreds of species of animals and plants. Additionally, it has beautiful statues throughout, running tracks, and plentiful green spaces to relax and unwind. As such, it’s one of the world’s most popular sights for photos.
The Bethesda Fountain has an ethereal sculpture in the middle called Angel of the Waters. She hovered over the couple in the photos almost as if blessing them. Furthermore, the herringbone tiles surrounding the fountain highlighted the couple’s black loafers and stilettos with diamond clasps. In addition, Andrew and Rachel danced effortlessly in front of the fountain; the moves easily captured on film.
Another landmark we visited at in Central Park was the Bethesda Terrace. It features carved sandstone, granite steps, and herringbone brick surrounding the outside. Then, the couple walked through the magical lower passage, which features a Minton ceiling of over 14,000 tiles created by inlaid clay.
The Bow Bridge with its cream colored circular designs and floral cut-outs was a striking backdrop against the couple’s elegant black attire. On this occasion, Andrew wore a black tuxedo and matching bow tie, with black loafers. Rachel wore a glamorous floor length black strapless dress with a slit at the chest and above the knees. Additionally, the yellowing of the autumn leaves on both sides of the bridge, coupled with the New York city skyline, completed the look. All three scenes made for a perfect Central Park engagement.
The couple opted to shoot a second set of autumn engagement photos in their own neighborhood, the coveted West Village. New Yorkers consider the neighborhood to be the birthplace of new movements and ideas, and an artistic retreat. Besides, the charming brownstone houses and streets still remain, and were the perfect background for the couple’s casual attire. The vines on many of the brick walls, orange pumpkins on the steps, and cast-iron gates and banisters were the highlights.
Naturally, Andrew wore a black sweater over a collared shirt, with gray pants and brown loafers. To complement, Rachel wore a black sweater with a stunning back cut-out and tie, with leather pants, and shiny black chunky booties.
Additionally, this engagement shoot was dog friendly. The couple’s love for Riggins, their dog, shown brightly. He calmly accompanied them through West Village for the engagement photos, and posed like a champion!
The couple’s desire to have a formal and casual shoot in two different New York locations was a dream to work with and plan. Andrew and Rachel’s personalities and love showed through and through.
